What a busy week for President Barack Obama!! He was fired up and ready to go after his vacation to advocate for Health Care Reform. He did so in many ways, from taking his case from the heart of Washington out on the road to Minneapolis, Minnesota where a fired up crowd showed their hunger for the reform. During his speech the President chose to rise above the noise, and the misinformation, and pettiness that his opponents have blown it way out of porportion about this reform. Here is some of what he had to say to the crowd. ” Health Care Reform will benefit those who already have insurance ending discrimination Read more…
Hi Everyone,
I hope you are doing well. This week in Washington all is quiet.
Congress is still on break, and the First family left in the middle of the week to go to Camp Davis to make up for their interrupted Martha’s Vineyard vacation.
The only thing I found on the news stations and blogs is that the government is concerned about the spread of the H1N1 flu. They keep reminding us all that when Read more…
This week The Obama family began it’s vacation in Martha’s Vineyard.
They kept a low profile but Barack Obama was seen on the golf course a couple of times and Michelle went out with the girls one day.
The media around here kept asking is he going to be visiting with Ted Kennedy while he is here? At first their was no response to the question, and then came the news that Ted Kennedy had passed away on August 26th. Read more…
I don’t know which gripe bothered me the most this week. Between a certain group of snobs calling First Lady Michelle Obama’s fashion choice to wear shorts on a hiking trip in Arizona in August at the Grand Canyon inappropriate!!! Hello?
Or the constant talking and bickering over this Health Care Reform. It has brought me to the point of cluelessness.
All I can say is the Obama family vacation on Martha’s Vineyard is well deserved. They arrived there today. Read more…
I have, once again, been accused of not having “Family Values” because of my declaration of being not only a registered Democrat, but (heaven help us!) a Liberal Democrat at that. This is becoming so very tiresome and also concerns me that people paint each other with such wide brushes. Further, it got me to thinking about what, exactly, are “Family Values” and why do I not have any? The general opinion is that Republicans have ‘it’ and Democrats…eh, not so much.
“Family Values” is a feel good phrase, bandied about primarily during elections. Visions of Momma in an apron Read more…
This week was filled with town hall meetings about Health Care Reform, In case you did not see them on the news you are lucky!
There were all these people yelling at the Congress who took time out to answer their questions .

The only happy thing I thought this week that happened for President Read more…

This week the President was focused on passing the Health Care Reform Act. He appeared on all the important news programs, such as Good Morning America, and world news tonight.
I find it a little confusing so I searched for something to simplify it for us. What I do know as of now the main point of contention is the price. The President wants to pass it so there is $1.6 Trillion dollars to make it work. The Congress does not want to spend more than $1 Trillion, so the costs will need to be hashed out. Read more…
This Fathers day the President took some time out to recognize the importance of Father’s Day. He opened up to Parade Magazine and this is some of what he shared. “In many ways, I came to understand the importance of fatherhood through
its absence, both in my life and in the lives of others. I came to understand that the hole a man leaves when he abandons his responsibility
to his children is one that no government can fill. We can do everything possible to provide good jobs and good schools and safe streets for our kids, but it will never be enough to fully make up the difference. That is why we need fathers to step up, Read more…
The highlight of this week with The President and American was the at home terrorist attack.
This is the President’s Statement on the incident.
President Obama:
I am shocked and saddened by the shooting at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. This outrageous act reminds us that we must remain vigilant against anti-Semitism and prejudice in all its forms. No American institution is more important to this effort than the Holocaust Museum, and no act of violence will diminish our determination to honor those who were lost by building a more peaceful and tolerant world. Today, we have lost a courageous security guard who Read more…
This week the President Barack Obama set out to visit Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He then traveled to Cairo, Egypt and Paris and Germany. While he was in Germany he placed a flower at a memorial at Buchenwald Nazi concentration camp, a camp where his great uncle helped to free the Jews. When his great uncle returned from his service, in a state of shock saying little and isolating himself for months on end from family and friends, he was
alone with the painful memories that would not leave his head.

This week the President chose his nominee for the Supreme Court. This may be his first and only during his Presidency. I am sure you have all heard he picked Judge Sonia Sotomayor.

This week The President’s biggest issues were Security and Values, and A New Era for Credit Cards. The Security and Values issue came up when he chose to close Guantanamo by stating this in his address. “For the first time since 2002, we’re providing the necessary resources and strategic direction to take the fight to the extremists who attacked us on 9/11 in Afghanistan and Pakistan. We’re investing in the 21st century military and intelligence capabilities that will allow us to stay one step ahead of a nimble enemy. We have re-energized a global non-proliferation regime to deny the world’s most dangerous people access to the world’s deadliest weapons. And we’ve launched an effort to secure all loose nuclear materials within four years. We’re better protecting Read more…
