Off the Wagon

10:20 pm June 17, 2009

So, I don’t like to talk about this much, but I have diabetes. Usually, I don’t pay it too much mind. I try to be careful about what I eat and take my medicines when I’m supposed to. It can be a totally manageable problem if you actually do as you’re supposed to.

Unfortunately, I’m not that person right now. I’ve fallen off the wagon.

Hard.

I don’t know what it is with “lately,” but I find myself with a delicious treat in my Read More...

A Trekkie’s Appeal

9:15 pm May 21, 2009

So…after a week of waiting for my entire crew of friends to be able to go, I was finally able to see the latest Star Trek movie. I’m not going to go into a full review since, I’m sure if you’re interested, you’ve read plenty of them. I’ll just say this: I’m in love. I really am. I’ve always loved Star Trek and I stuck with it through most of its variations. And after many years of being die-hard about it, I lost my pizazz for it. That is, until Read More...

Cubed Life: Office Musings 3

8:16 pm May 6, 2009

cubesI don’t work at a help desk, but a lot of times I feel like I do.  I don’t mean with technology, but with things that people can probably figure out on their own.

Usually, if I am planning to go to an unfamiliar place,  I stake out how to get there well in Read More...

Life Disconnected

6:15 pm April 23, 2009

laptopI would have never imagined it would be so hard to be apart from technology. It’s been a few weeks since my laptop decided to have issues. Usually it’s okay, but sometimes it would make this horrible whirring sound. I fear that the fan is going up.

I’ve Read More...

DIY 2: The Revenge

7:36 am April 9, 2009

tales_of_erotasySince DIY 1,  I’ve decided to go for it. As it turns out, it’s a lot tougher than I thought it would be. A LOT tougher.

I have a lot of short stories on my laptop and a few of them were on the web as well. An idea came to me to put them together in a little book. Together, I call these stories Read more…

Cubed Life: Office Musings 2

7:11 am April 1, 2009

cubicleSo, I’ve been doing my job for almost three years now. While I would never dare to call myself an “expert” at anything, I will say that I’m fairly knowledgeable of what my office does. At least, I like to think I do.

Today challenged that concept for me. Read More...

Forever Addicted

8:41 pm March 23, 2009

Forgetting is not an
Option when it comes to this far
Reaching longing. It lingers
Even though it brings pain. It is a
Vice so overwhelming and uncontrolled that
Every part of me aches in
Readiness for even the slightest taste

Always haunting in the
Darkest corners of my mind and secret
Dreams. Forever on the edge, threatening to
Ignite the damning passions that
Comes from your very presence that eternally
Teases my Read More...

Cubed Life: Office Musings 1

5:07 pm March 16, 2009

By night I may be a budding erotica writer, but by day I’m a run of the mill office worker. I work at a very well-known medical office, way, way up on the ratings for that sort of thing. It’s prestigious, but all I know it as is a pain in my butt.

I deal with mostly the scheduling of patients. It doesn’t sound like it should be a difficult or stressful job, however it is. Our responsibilities in scheduling stretch beyond that. We deal with all kinds of silly things, Read More...

The Structure of Book Romance

9:21 am March 3, 2009

If you’ve ever watched a soap-opera, you pretty much know the structure on how to write a trashy romance novel. When you think about it, it’s pretty simple.

Here are some basic tips/tricks to writing a romance no matter the length.

The Heroine: If you’re writing about or for women, your main character should be a woman. However, this is not to say that your main person can’t be a man, of course. I’m not sexist! Read More...

Getting Grammarous, Word Style

7:15 pm February 23, 2009

There are a lot of blogs/websites devoted to helping people with grammar. This is my take on the common errors and with some (hopefully!) insightful and memorable examples, E.D.B. style, aka dirty (I can’t help it; I write erotic fiction…) >:D.

The Triple T’s:   To, Too, and Two.

These dirty words have been giving people troubles for a long time.

1. To: While it has a couple of other uses, it often goes along with Read More...

E.D.Beale’s Erotica Tips

6:01 pm February 19, 2009

It can be rough and dirty. It can be sweet and tender, but also deliciously sexy. It can be torture, passion, and pain rolled into one.

Erotic fiction opens up the world of human sexuality in a tasteful, literary form. Contrary to the belief of some, erotica is not the same thing as pornography. Pornography is geared towards stimulating sexual desire.

While it can also do the same, erotica is more than that; it’s more about the story with the added perk of sexual Read More...

Attack of the Plot Bunnies

6:27 pm February 12, 2009

If you’re anything like me as a writer, you have a herd of plot bunnies romping around your head at any given moment.

After a while, it becomes a serious pain in the butt, but unfortunately, it usually doesn’t stop.

Here are some ideas for keeping those bunnies in the cage and prevent idea loss!

1. Keep a diary. I’ve mentioned this one before, but trust me, it’s going to help! When you have an idea, write it down. Have a specific book dedicated Read More...

Inspiring Inspiration

6:09 pm February 9, 2009

Your idea is out there, you just have to find it.

But how, you ask?  Well, inspiration can come from just about anywhere, you just have to learn how to harvest it!

Here are the ways I pull ideas out of a couple of common sources.

1. Music - Every song tells a story, even pieces without words. All you have to do is close your eyes and visualize what the song is trying to tell you. Even better, find a music type that fits the mood of the project you’re working on and Read More...

From the Head to the Hand

8:36 pm February 5, 2009

So, you have a good idea for a story and you want to write it. Excellent!

It’s a perfect way to start your adventure in story-telling. In fact, it’s the only way to start. And, feel proud that you got step one out of the way.

Now you’re thinking “What the heck do I do now?” The easiest answer is get on the ball and get to writing. Unfortunately, it’s rarely that easy.

Here are some quick tips into putting what you have in that noddle onto paper or Read More...

Do-it-Yourself Publishing

3:19 pm January 26, 2009

To self-publish, or not to self-publish, that is the question. There are a number of people feel that if a person self-publishes, their work isn’t worthy of an established publisher.

On the other side, people who do self-publish feel as though they’re cutting out the middleman and getting their stuff available ASAP.

Which side is right? Both have their merits and their disadvantages like any other thing in life.

Personally, I’ve been tinkering with the Read More...

“The Love of Lust.”

2:05 pm December 27, 2008

A passion of mine is erotic fiction. There’s something decadent about writing it. Or, perhaps, it’s just the intensity of it that does it for me. I’m not sure, but I do know that I love it.

Recently, I was asked how exactly did I become interested in writing erotica. There is a single word that says it all for me:
April.
No, I’m not talking about the month, I’m talking about the woman. She’s the person who started me on the path of Read More...
