This poem is for every woman that made it
Who’s life did not end
With them laying in a casket
The pain and shame you felt
You were too proud to admit
Lying to the police
Because you were afraid to tell them
Of the crimes he did commit
Walking around with kid gloves
Don’t’ know when he would break out into a fit
Because you know you would be the first one Read more…
Angels Are All Around Us
Angel winked her pretty sparkle.
A pin point of illumination, they
appear all around us.
Some have perceived or others reject as

Nothing to me will steal their thunder because

Finding out you’re pregnant with twins can be a very exciting moment. You can’t help but feel just a little extra special from other moms to be. What an exciting moment!
Then reality starts to kick in. Doctor visits become a little less joyous and a little more scary as nurses and doctors start giving you the details of your now “high risk pregnancy,” especially if you’re over 35 and pregnant with twins. You can’t help wonder how in the world you’re going to care for two babies at once; and now a day doesn’t go by that you don’t think about Read more…
Yes, it’s finally here. The last day of school and the beginning of a long summer break. I live for summer. I know some mothers approach summer with a little bit of dread. Suddenly routines change and you need to make arrangements to keep children occupied. After one day out of school, it’s inevitable that you will hear the, “I’ve got nothing to do.” or “I’m bored.”
My kids are teenagers now and, though I still get that occasionally, for Read More...

Me: “I’d like to send this package.”
Postmaster: “How would you like to send it?”
M: Which ever way is cheapest.
P: Express mail is $33.95, Priority is $13.50
M: What about Read More...
Since our boys are in wrestling at the elementary school, skin things get spread around. In December, our oldest son came home from a meet with small red rash near his mouth which I quickly diagnosed as seborrhoeic dermatitis (thinking I was quite clever). I started treating it with hydrocortizone cream, which is to skin rashes that Carmex is to chapped lips, and a vacuum cleaner is to dirt on the floor. This didn’t work, so I started applying Lamisil cream which is used to treat jock itch that just happened to be lying around the house? That didn’t work. I think it was here that I realized maybe all skin fungi aren’t the same, so can’t be treated the same. When the two other boys got little spots near their mouths, I realized I needed to try something else. It has been 3 months Read more…
Transition is hard for any child, this is completely true when it comes to moving your baby to his or her own bed. Co-sleeping is a controversial topic, however, many parents do co-sleep with their children. Co-sleeping has not been shown to delay your children’s independence or their ability to grow in a normal way.
There will be a day when you decide that your bed is no longer big enough to be shared with your child, and this may be one of the hardest transitions of your child’s life. The transition from parents bed Read more…

This is a narrative of a (mostly) true incident right before I left home for college (700,000+ miles away) the first time.
I noticed Angels doesn’t seem to have many stories of a narrative style, and since mine isn’t the average first-time-leaving-home story, I Read More...
President Obama was born an indigo child. Indigo children have the world in their hands. It is a state of mind but far more than that it is an ability to instinctively know the rights and wrongs of situations. The indigo child listens to their inner voice and hears the call from beyond. The indigo child is courageous and confident. Courage is not something they have to work on, it is just there deeply entrenched in their soul. The indigo child knows inside that they are special and shoulders the responsibility that comes with the role they have chosen.
We were all indigo children Read more…
I did a headstand in yoga the other day and I don’t know where my boobs went, but my stomach landed in my face. Talk about a reality check. I have been watching the scale inch up bit by bit over the years, squinting down at the first-thing-in-the-morning-but-definitely-after-I-peed, weigh-in as five pounds turned to ten, then twenty, but I always had some good excuse ready to go.
I told myself that I had a perfectly fine, statistically average-sized, maybe nobody will notice body. I mused that if I’m going to die early because I’m fat, Read more…
