I love Cirque du Soleil, and they have a new show called Banana Shpeel that is sure to be a hit! It’s a comedy and a musical and a drama all rolled into one!
You can visit this site to get your tickets in advance, http://bit.ly/Zefsq, because I am sure the shows will be sold out very quickly. This show opens in Chicago on November 19th of this year, and in New York on February 4th, 2010.
I Have seen a few Cirque shows and am always in awe of them. The dancers and acrobats that each show seems to be filled with, just amaze me on so many levels. I find myself not being able to tear my eyes away from the television screen. I have never had the pleasure of seeing a Cirque du Soleil show in person, but boy, would I love to! I can’t even imagine how much better it would be to see one of the shows live, as opposed to seeing them on tv?
Back to the new show, Banana Shpeel… this offers us a throwback to old vaudeville and Busby Berkley musicals, with some disco, tap and hip hop thrown in to delight us too! It sort of reminds me a bit of An American in Paris for the beginning story line of a young and innocent actor named Emmett, who auditions for the evil producer, Shmelky, who traps him in this weird world where he meets crazy characters and falls in love with a beauty named Katie. He also meets someone called Banana Man who is strange and mysterious, but my hunch is that Banana Man is going to help Emmett escape the evil clutches of Shmelky. Although, I am not sure, and will have to see the show myself to find out. There are gags and production numbers that will surely thrill us all.
This definitely looks like it would be a blast to go to, and you can watch a little video below to catch some insight into Banana Shpeel and it’s origins and see some of the characters and see their amazing make-up!! I love everything about Cirque du Soleil, and can’t wait for this show to come out!!

I love Cirque du Soleil! They always have something fresh, new, and different. If only the tickets weren’t so expensive, I can afford to go again.
