This week I would like to share the loving kindness meditation on feeling safe and protected. We have all experienced unpleasant, distressing events that have left us feeling unsafe, insecure and as if we are in harm’s way.
As you bring attention to feelings of security and protection you might discover that it is easier to access a sense of safety than you thought.
Once again you can chose to meditate either using the formal or informal method. Take a few deep breaths. Breathing in and out you will begin to feel yourself becoming more relaxed. Rest a moment in that feeling. Visualize yourself in a place, real or imagined, where you feel safe. Notice all the details where this sanctuary is, what it looks like, what you look like, and how your feel. Now let those feelings of being safe and protected wash over your body, mind and heart as you repeat the following phrases over and over in your mind.
May I be safe.
May I be at ease.
May I be at peace.
May I rest in the feelings of safety.
After about ten minutes, you can end this meditation by opening your eyes, and reconnecting with your environment. Whenever you need to feel more secure in your day, this is a great tool to help you.
