America The Nice

8:59 pm April 30, 2009

warning image photo picture imagesAmerica is staring in the face of a rare virus known as Swine Flu, and the country from which it is suspected of having taken over a hundred lives still has free moving access to America’s people with nothing but a hand wipe and a face mask if you are lucky.

The words pandemic and epidemic are being tossed around like helium balloons and yet being taken only as seriously. I’m normally one of the last people to encourage panic but it seems that there are times when it is okay to be excessively careful. PEOPLE ARE DYING… why not take PREVENTATIVE measures and begin Read more…

Streets Fringed with Gold

8:58 pm

goldThis is a narrative of a (mostly) true incident right before I left home for college (700,000+ miles away) the first time.
I noticed Angels doesn’t seem to have many stories of a narrative style, and since mine isn’t the average first-time-leaving-home story, I Read More...

American Idol is now down to Four

10:58 am

ai_top51I have to let you know that I watch this religiously every Tuesday and Wednesday night, (or at least I DVR it so I don’t miss it) and Tuesday’s show was my favorite…by far!!  They did a take-off of the Rat Pack standards, or crooner songs…ones with emotions and feelings that can draw the audience in and hold it there!
The top 5 contestants did a fine job with these ballads. And with Jamie Foxx as their Mentor, they excelled!!

I feel that Jamie Foxx pulled out of them, something that no-one else could. Jamie is down to earth and real, and speaks his mind, and he spoke it to these 5 contestants and made them Read more…

Manta, The New Ride at SeaWorld sounds Awesome

8:36 pm April 29, 2009

Have you heard about the fabulous new ride that is opening next month at SeaWorld in Orlando?  It is called the Manta, and the premise of this ride is that you are floating just like a Manta Ray through the sea, only in reality, you are strapped to the underbelly of a huge Manta Ray that is part of a high speed roller coaster ride, where you are lying flat and face down!!  Can you believe it??

When I first heard about this awesome new ride, my first thought was, “I have to ride this thing“!!  I love roller coaster type rides, and this one seems Read more…

The Health of a Busy Woman

7:25 pm April 28, 2009

busywomanBusy women are often tired, but they have so much to do they don’t have time to slow down.  They’re too busy busy taking care of everything and everyone else to take a little time for themselves. This often leads to unwanted stress, unhealthy habits, and feeling down and sluggish.

Time management is something that goes out the window when it comes to pampering ourselves, but if we can manage other tasks well, taking a little time for us shouldn’t take an act of congress or interfere Read more…

This Week with President Obama

7:11 pm April 27, 2009

cabinet_meetingThis week was filled with firsts for the President. On Monday the 20th the President held his first cabinet meeting. President Obama emphasized the importance of cutting out waste in our government and using that money
to reinvest in our economy, it is necessary for our recovery. He also said he is proud of what his cabinet has accomplished so far.

For example, the Veterans Affairs has canceled or delayed 26 conferences, saving nearly $17.8 million, and they’re using less expensive alternatives Read more…

Spread Your Wings

7:09 pm

Spread your wings, my angel. Clear the clouds from the covered sky.

Spread your wings to send them soaring high.

Push back the haze that swallows all of my days.

Spread your wings, stretch them wide. Shield my heart if he has lied.

Spread your wings to span the years, lay their fluttery breath upon me to dry my tears.

Then spread them triumphantly when I have finally faced my fears.

Spread your wings, keep me at your side. Only you can save me when Read More...

Accept Yourself

7:34 pm April 26, 2009

self_worthI think this meditation is a very important one on the road to self improvement, spiritual growth or whatever path you are on. I struggle with this, although I find as I get older I have become more forgiving towards myself and accepting of my faults. I wake up everyday teachable and hope to always stay that way.

An Angels Inspiration

Every man has three characters: that which he shows, that which he has, and that which he thinks he has.
- Alphonse Karr

My Take: We can only hope that the character we THINK we have is even somewhat close to the reality. And the goal should be to make all three correlate.

Obama’s Angels

8:50 pm April 21, 2009

khamelPresident Obama was born an indigo child.  Indigo children have the world in their hands.  It is a state of mind but far more than that it is an ability to instinctively know the rights and wrongs of situations.  The indigo child listens to their inner voice and hears the call from beyond.  The indigo child is courageous and confident.  Courage is not something they have to work on, it is just there deeply entrenched in their soul.  The indigo child knows inside that they are special and shoulders the responsibility that comes with the role they have chosen.

We were all indigo children Read more…

Life’s Pages

8:40 pm

Days go by so fast,
Life becomes an empty repast,
Of lives that aren’t meant to last,
Lost in the pages of the past.

Where did all the time go,
Pages that no longer turn slow,
Dreams that get lost in the flow,
In the haste that time implodes.

Demons lay sedate in the sunlight,
Then only come out at night,
To taunt the past days delights,
And leave only worthless mind frights.

What was an unending highway,

Fat Chance

9:41 pm April 20, 2009

headstand-yoga-poseI did a headstand in yoga the other day and I don’t know where my boobs went, but my stomach landed in my face. Talk about a reality check. I have been watching the scale inch up bit by bit over the years, squinting down at the first-thing-in-the-morning-but-definitely-after-I-peed, weigh-in as five pounds turned to ten, then twenty, but I always had some good excuse ready to go.

I told myself that I had a perfectly fine, statistically average-sized, maybe nobody will notice body. I mused that if I’m going to die early because I’m fat, Read more…

A Tea Party For The Times

You didn’t spay your dog…now what?

10:44 pm April 17, 2009

puddin21There are a lot of potential negative side effects to spaying your dog and some of us would rather not expose our dogs them. But deciding to not spay your female comes with its own set of risks, chief among them unwanted litters and pyometra, a potentially fatal infection of the uterus. The choice to not spay, therefore, brings to the pet owner increased responsibilities.

It is doubtful that most pet owners have heard of pyometra Read more…

A Low Down Shame

10:13 pm

I’m no Angel. Well, I am… I write this column here at the Angels Ezine. But that’s where my saint hood stops. I have an enormous conscience but like that of most fallible humans, it picks and chooses it’s ground to stand on and is not 100% in perfect working order 100% of the time. So maybe it’s a slightly damaged soap box from which I speak- but where have all the morals of the world gone?
