Close your eyes. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you smell? What I see is a wooded moutain without closing my eyes, birds singing, and the smell of winter. I don’t see many cars or hear them for that matter and I don’t smell pollution. I see tons of wildlife deer, rabbits, racoons, and even a stray cow every now and then.
Lately, there has been talk about the economy in West Virginia growing. This is something we don’t hear a lot of. Governor Manchin has helped to bring in new business. We have a Toyota plant nearby and when a business leaves he works on bringing new in. The Governor of West Virginia has made a lot of positive changes for the state. When the Sago mine exploded in 2006 killing 12 people the Governor pushed for better mine safety.
A few thing you can do while visiting:
Has anyone told you to go jump off a bridge? More than 20,000 people decide to jump off the New River Gorge bridge bungee cord and all. The next one is scheduled for October 17, 2009.
You can go white water rafting at the Gauley River 1-800-SKY-RAFT. You won’t see me doing this. I have a fear of water. What is my speed is hiking and West Virginia has tons of places to just get lost in the woods. Hiking Upward http://www.hikingupward.com/ offers reviews on trails.
Wonder what it was like in the old days? Take a ferry boat ride to Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park. There you will see all sorts of crafters basket weavers, smithies, and wood workers. You can take a virtual tour of the mansion online http://www.blennerhassettislandstatepark.com/tours/house.htm
Want a taste of something new and peaceful why not visit?
